How to Help Post-Chantal
What I know so far
Chantal hit us pretty hard. I’ve been out for two days checking on people, moving objects, and trying to connect residents and business owners to supplies, volunteers, and legal aid.

If you’re looking to plug in and help residents, start at Triangle Mutual Aid’s Chantal linktree. For businesses, the Town and the Chamber are collaborating to provide support, including how to register with FEMA, here.

In the Mutual Aid linktree, there’s a massive Signal chat for organizing. There are also more specific, focused chats, which I’ll describe below.
You can download signal here. Here’s how the system currently works.
People sign up to canvass different neighborhoods, where they will knock doors and find people who need help.
The canvassers share the mutual aid request form. Anyone can fill it out. You don’t have to wait to be canvassed.
Triangle Mutual Aid organizers (not me) process requests, make calls to confirm details, and post in the Helpers Chat to direct volunteer capacity to areas of high need.
People who need housing support can request it here.
There are comprehensive resources, including addresses for food, water, cooling stations, and shelter, in this document.
Keep tabs on the linktree. It’s getting more and more effective with each day.
